The OM announces the winners of the 2024 OMNI Competition
The Orchestre Métropolitain is pleased to announce that bass trombonist Éli Turmel is the winner of the 6th edition of the OMNI Competition, receiving the François Schubert Grand Prize.
For the sixth year running, 243 young Canadian performers aged 7 to 17 had the opportunity to demonstrate their musical talent before a jury. 36 young performers made it through to the final round and stood out in their respective categories, sharing scholarships totalling almost $30,000. Their perseverance, determination and passion for music were rewarded. Click here to see the full list of winners.
But whether or not they received a bursary, each of the young people who took part in the competition came away with a rich experience that we hope will encourage them to continue practising their instrument.
From 26 to 28 April, our young talents gave some superb performances in the first round of the OMNI Competition, broadcast on the OM YouTube channel. Click here to watch their performances again!
The OMNI Competition encourages young people to play their instruments and showcases their talent in a healthy environment, fostering the musical growth and development of each participant.
