OMNI Music Competition

The OMNI Competition by the Orchestre Métropolitain returns for its 8th edition!
We’re thrilled to relaunch this national competition that celebrates emerging musical talent and offers young musicians aged 7 to 17 a meaningful experience in their artistic journey.

It’s time to choose your repertoire and start practicing! Registrations open on December 3, 2026, and you have until February 3, 2027 to register.  

The OMNI Competition is now available on the Wiin.io platform!  

You can now consult the OMNI competition rules on the platform.

Starting this edition, the OMNI Competition will follow a new format: 

• Winds and percussion will be featured every year 

• String and piano categories will alternate from one edition to the next 

In 2027, piano will be featured alongside winds and percussion.
The string category will return in 2028. 

Competition process: 

Virtual first round
All participants submit a video performance that is featured on the Orchestre Métropolitain’s YouTube channel. Participants in the Competitive track may be selected to advance to the final round, while participants in the Participatory track take part through their video submission only.

All participants receive feedback from the jury following the screening of their video performance.

In-person final
The finalists in the Competitive track will have the opportunity to perform before a jury at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and compete for one of the many prizes awarded.

Two tracks available for your students: 

• Participatory track: ideal for a first competition experience in a supportive environment, with constructive feedback from OM musicians 

• Competitive track: for students looking to challenge themselves and compete for scholarships or gift card prizes, including the François Schubert Grand Prize of $5,000 

• Registration opening: December 3, 2026 

• Registration deadline: February 3, 2027 

• Video submission deadline: February 10, 2027 

• Performance showcase on YouTube: April 25–26, 2027 

• In-person final round: May 1–2, 2027 

• Awards ceremony: May 15, 2027
