The return of the Beethoven Marathon as it was 25 years ago.

This year marks an exceptional milestone in the history of the Orchestre Métropolitain and in my own career: my 25 years as artistic director and principal conductor of the OM. For a quarter of a century, we have been united by the joy of making music together, resonating with it, and creating a space for sharing.

2000

At the age of 25, Yannick Nézet-Séguin is appointed Artistic Director of the Orchestre Métropolitain.
2003

The OM and Yannick record their first album Nino Rota – La Strada, with ATMA Classique, which wins them an OPUS Award. Today, the OM has won 15 OPUS Awards!
2005

To mark the 25th season of the OM, Yannick conducts the OM in a marathon of the nine symphonies of Beethoven. A Beethoven Marathon will take place this season, this time marking the 25th season of Yannick at the head of the OM.

The OM and Yannick win their first Félix Award for the album Kurt Weill with the singer Diane Dufresne, also recorded with ATMA Classique. Today, the OM has won 7 Félix Awards.
2010

The OM marks its 30th anniversary by presenting Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 “of a Thousand” in both Ottawa and Montréal.
2011

First OM concert presented at the Maison symphonique de Montréal.
2014

The OM and Yannick give their first free concert at Mount Royal, which has become an unmissable summer event. The OM will hold its 10th concert here in Summer 2025.
2017

The OM and Yannick take part in the festivities to mark the 375th anniversary of Montréal.

Accompanied by renowned soloists, the OM and Yannick embark on their first European tour. They will return to Europe in June 2025.
2019

The OM announces the signing of a contract for life with Yannick, a rarity in the orchestral world and a testimony to the strong bond between them.

This time, the OM and Yannick head on tour to the United States with mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato. The Orchestra and its conductor returned to the U.S. in March 2024.

The OMNI Competition for young musicians ages 7 to 17 is established. Nearly 1,000 young people have participated in the six editions of the Competition.
2020

Yannick conducts his 600th concert with the Orchestre Métropolitain.

The OM offers its first Tutti, an activity that permits musicians of all ages and all levels of experience to play on stage with the musicians of the OM.
2021

The Academy of Orchestral Conducting, which trains the next generation of conductors, is established.

I want to give
