Nancy Ricard is from the Outaouais and a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Gatineau.
In addition to receiving a scholarship from Ottawa’s National Arts Centre, she earned a master’s degree with Denise Lupien at McGill University, graduating with great distinction. She then went on to develop her musical and orchestral playing skills with the Verbier Festival Orchestra, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra and the National Arts Center’s Young Artists Program.
Nancy Ricard has been performing with the Orchestre Métropolitain since 2005, and in 2011, she was appointed principal second violin. She has also appeared as a soloist with the OM, performing Bohuslav Martinů’s Sinfonia Concertante in 2015 and J.S. Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins in 2022. She is also a member of the first violins section of the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières since 2010, and performs frequently with I Musici and other local orchestras. A chamber music enthusiast, Nancy often performs in small ensembles with her Orchestre Métropolitain colleagues and guest soloists.
Nancy Ricard currently plays on a violin crafted by Giuseppe Fiorini with a bow by Vigneron, generously loaned by the Canimex Group.
