The Orchestre Métropolitain raises $754,846 at its benefit gala!

On March 25, the Orchestre Métropolitain brought together donors and business people at the Bell Centre, one of Montreal’s most legendary and central venues, for the 9th edition of its benefit gala on Tuesday, raising a total of $754,846 to support its various projects.
On the ice usually occupied by the Montreal Habs, a different kind of team gave 110%. The musicians of the Orchestre Métropolitain, led by their principal conductor and artistic director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, ensured victory for the OM. The orchestra was even joined by the great Diane Dufresne for a touching rendition of L’Hymne à la beauté du monde. The evening ended with a unique musical performance, when Yannick Nézet-Séguin took to the piano to perform a movement from Robert Schumann’s Piano Quartet, accompanied by his husband, violist Pierre Tourville, violinist Alexander Lozowski and cellist Sheila Hannigan.
Co-chairing the event were visionaries from companies that are the pride of Quebec: France Margaret Bélanger, President, Sports and Entertainment, CH Group; Jean-Yves Bourgeois, Senior Vice President, Business Services, Desjardins; and Martin Tremblay, President and CEO, Solotech.
The Orchestre Métropolitain would like to thank its co-presidents for the evening, its conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and his musicians, its board of directors chaired by Érik J. Ryan, as well as its administrative team and its many volunteers. Without them, this evening would not have been possible.
OM would also like to thank all the partners who helped make the evening a success: Air Canada, Desjardins, Groupe CH, Solotech, chef Lee Salafranque and his staff, Cava Rose, Champagne Club Sandwich and its director Gabriel Poirier-Galarneau, Orange Tango and the SAQ.
