The OM Alfresco

Montreal, Wednesday, May 21, 2025 – Upon returning from its European tour, the Orchestre Métropolitain (OM) will meet audiences across Quebec for the duration of its summer season, which will take it and artistic director Yannick Nézet-Séguin from Charlevoix to Lanaudière, via Saint-Sauveur, Verdun and, of course, Mount Royal!
One of Montreal’s most eagerly awaited summer events, the Orchestre Métropolitain and Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s grand concert at the foot of Mount Royal takes place on Wednesday, July 30, at 7:30 pm. The whole of Montreal is invited to join Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the OM for this unique opportunity to vibrate with the tens of thousands of people gathered in this emblematic metropolis. An experience to be had at least once in your life!
The evening’s program, presented by CN, will feature Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 “Italian” as its pièce de résistance. Imbued with happiness and a sense of closeness to nature, this dance-like, lyrical work is ideal for this outdoor concert in the heart of the city’s largest park. Three excerpts from Stravinsky’s orchestral suite L’Oiseau de feu will add a healthy dose of rhythm and energy to the program, while Augusta Holmès’s interlude La nuit et l’amour will add a touch of poetry and dreaminess, and the music of Quebec’s Hector Gratton will have us tapping our toes with Dansons le carcaillou.
The concert at the foot of Mount Royal is presented as part of the CAM Touring Program
