Like the broom in Dukas’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, the OM comes to life under the baton of Nicolas Ellis with a program dedicated to music from the movies. Soprano Catherine St-Arnaud performs the infamous Jewel Song from Tintin’s The Castafiore Emerald adventure, before the mood then takes a more somber turn with well-known melodies from The Mission and Schindler’s List, featuring oboist Mathias Leclerc and cellist Eva Lesage. Joining the OM once again is Martin Carli, scientist and co-host of the popular Télé-Québec show Génial!. He explains why certain tunes gets stuck in your head and why others send chills up your spine.
