Canadian countertenor Sean Haid is recognized for his joy, creativity, and thoughtful musical and dramatic commitment. Originally from Calgary, Sean completed a Bachelor’s in Voice Performance with a minor in Early Music Performance at McGill University. Sean is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Classical Voice at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Recently, Sean was an artist with the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity Program: Opera in the 21st Century, performing a wide variety of concerts, filmed opera scenes, and a solo recital of works by Purcell and Britten with collaborator Spencer Kryzanowski. Roles at the Banff Centre include The Boy/The Angel (Written on Skin), Oberon (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), and Marcel (Fantasma). In concert, Sean has performed with Tapestry Opera (Toronto), the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance, Early Music Voices and Rosa Barocca Orchestra (Calgary).

Highlights of this season include Handel’s Messiah with Ensemble vocal Vivace (Montréal), covering Orphée in Orphée+ with Edmonton Opera, a new opera workshop with Matthew Ricketts and Royce Vavrek (Dawson City), a solo recital in Bernard Haitinkzaal (Amsterdam), and the narrator in Honegger’s Le Roi David (Amsterdam).
