Pierre McLean
Holder of a Master’s degree in Performance (Piano) from the Université de Montréal, Pierre McLean further honed his skills through residencies in France (Royaumont), Italy (Siena), and Germany (Bremen, Düsseldorf). After participating in programs at the Banff Centre for Arts and the Tanglewood Music Center, he served as a trainee vocal coach in the training program of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, before becoming a vocal coach at the faculties of music of the Université de Montréal and the Schulich School of Music, McGill University. He also sang for several years with the vocal ensemble Tudor as well as in the choir of the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal.
Highly regarded by singers and choral conductors, Pierre performs frequently on stages in Quebec and abroad. He works regularly as a répétiteur for the choirs of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Opéra de Montréal, and numerous vocal ensembles across Quebec, including the Chœur Polyphonique de Montréal and Musica Orbium.
He was the pianist for the National Youth Choir of Canada tour in May 2024, conducted by Roseline Blain, as well as for the brand-new Académie Chorale de Montréal, under the direction of Jean-Sébastien Vallée. He can also be heard on the latest recording by soprano Karina Gauvin, Marie Hubert Fille du Roy, released on the ATMA Classique label.
