Elvira Misbakhova

A native of Tatarstan, in Russia, Elvira Misbakhova received a doctorate in music performance from the Université de Montréal in 2005. On arriving in Canada in 1999, she became principal violist of the Orchestre de l’Université de Montréal. She has performed as a soloist at various festivals and with various orchestras, most notably in Japan, Germany and Quebec.

Her soloist career has seen her performing with the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Orchestre symphonique de Drummondville, I Musici de Montréal and the Montreal Intercultural Orchestra. In 2019, she recorded a critically acclaimed disc for the renowned Chandos label.

Elvira has been a violist with the Orchestre Métropolitain for nine years. She has also worked with the Trois-Rivièves and Longueuil symphony orchestras. A member of the celebrated Canadian group Kleztory, she performs on an 1840-50 Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume viola with a Louis Bazin bow, generously loaned by the Canimex Foundation.
