An Orchestral and Cinematic Premiere

A sensory immersion into the heart of the living world

Featuring stunning cinematography by François Gamache and Josée Deshaies, the film murmurs offers an intimate perspective on life and our coexistence with the myriad species that share our planet. This 80-minute dialogue-free documentary relies entirely on the power of its imagery and on the original symphonic score by Anaïs Larocque, created in close collaboration with the filmmaker, orchestrated by François Vallières, and performed by the Orchestre Métropolitain.

The genesis of the project

murmures originated from an idea by explorer and underwater cinematographer Mario Cyr: a film portraying animals and their environments without any human intervention on screen, without experts or narration, and carried solely by music.

At an event, Cyr shared this vision with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who immediately embraced the concept and joined the adventure alongside the Orchestre Métropolitain. Cyr then turned to producer Vincent Leroux of PVP Media to bring the project to life. TV5 and Maison 4:3 were the first partners to come on board, providing crucial support that enabled the film’s financing and allowed Marie-Julie Dallaire to take on both the screenplay and direction.

Composer Anaïs Larocque was chosen for her unique sensitivity to nature and imagery, as well as for her musical language, which blends melodic inspiration with rich orchestral colours.

On November 1, experience this extraordinary artistic journey with the Orchestre Métropolitain, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and the breathtaking imagery of murmures.
