OM is going on its second American tour!
The Orchestre Métropolitain and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin are getting ready for their third tour. After their first European tour in 2017 and a second American tour in 2019, the OM is getting ready to head south of the border again starting from March 2.
After their first stop at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, Massachusetts, one of the oldest and most beautiful concert halls in North America, they’ll make their way to Philadelphia to perform in Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s second musical home—Verizon Hall, home to the Philadelphia Orchestra.
For a spectacular finish to their tour, the OM has been invited to perform at New York City’s legendary Carnegie Hall once again. As the concert will take place on Yannick’s birthday, it’s sure to be an emotional evening!
Young Canadian Tony Siqi Yun will join the orchestra on tour to perform Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2. Cree composer and cellist Cris Derksen will also take part, with her piece Controlled Burn opening the concert.
The program will finish with Symphony No. 2 by Sibelius, a composer the OM is well acquainted with, as they began recording the entirety of the composer’s symphonies in 2018.
