Tutti

Join in and share the stage with the musicians of the OM in a Tutti! Amateur performers of all ages are invited to register for our upcoming Tuttis and experience the unique thrill of playing alongside passionate and seasoned artists.

Whether at the Maison symphonique or other stages across Montréal, the OM is reaching out to the community in a special way: by inviting amateur musicians to play with them and share the joy of performing some of the most beautiful pieces in the repertoire.

Through this initiative, the OM hopes to support the next generation of musicians while encouraging amateur artistic practice and civic participation in the city’s cultural sphere! Tutti is a unique event inspired by the Philadelphia Orchestra’s PlayIn initiative.

Upcoming Tutti: Saturday, January 25, 2025

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, the Orchestre Métropolitain will hold a Tutti, with a full symphony orchestra for the very first time!

The OM invites amateur musicians of all ages to join its orchestra for this special activity. Comprising 58 amateur musicians and 20 OM musicians, this ephemeral ensemble will come together to perform works from the symphonic repertoire under the baton of conductor Naomi Woo, the OM’s artistic partner. This is a unique opportunity to share the stage at the Maison symphonique with passionate, skilled, and professional musicians.

Music lovers will also get to experience the talent of young bass trombonist Éli Turmel, winner of the Grand Prix François Schubert at the 2024 OMNI Competition.

About the artists

Naomi Woo, conductor

Canadian conductor & pianist Naomi Woo is a widely sought-after symphonic and operatic conductor and educator and the Music Director of NYO Canada.

Beginning with the 23-24 season she is the Artistic Partner of Orchestre Métropolitain Montréal and joins the Philadelphia Orchestra as assistant conductor for the 24-25 season.

Highlights of her auspicious 23-24 season include her first tour and recordings with NYO Canada in summer 2024; conducting engagements with the Orchestre Métropolitain, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Toronto Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, National Arts Center Orchestra; and an extensive tour of England leading English Touring Opera’s Cinderella. As an assistant/cover conductor Naomi works with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Toronto Symphony, and Orchestre Métropolitain, and she conducts classical subscription concerts with the Illinois Symphony, Orchestre Symphonique de Laval, Orchestre Symphonique de Trois-Rivières, Orchestre symphonique de la Côte-Nord, Symphony Nova Scotia, and the Thunder Bay Symphony.

Éli Turmel, bass trombone

Originally from Montreal, Éli Turmel is a passionate young bass trombonist. He trained at École secondaire Joseph-François-Perrault and more recently at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he studies trombone with Patrice Richer. Éli has won several awards, including first place in the trombone category at the 2023 Solistes et petits ensembles competition in Victoriaville, as well as the Grand Prix François Schubert at the Orchestre Métropolitain’s OMNI Competition in 2024.
