Collaboration with the Société pour les arts en milieu de santé (La SAMS)
For the fourth consecutive year, the Orchestre Métropolitain and La SAMS (Société pour les arts en milieux de santé) are proud to continue their commitment to the community with the OM Musicians’ Holiday Tour. This initiative brings moments of respite and musical magic to patients, healthcare workers, and residents of more than 15 healthcare facilities and community organizations in Montreal.
Eleven OM musicians are participating in this initiative, performing in various ensembles (a duo, two trios, and a quartet). Through their talent and dedication, this tour becomes a true balm for the soul during the festive season.
Initially focused on seniors in long-term care facilities, the Holiday Tour has expanded to include locations such as the Montreal Children’s Hospital, CHU Sainte-Justine, and the Le Phare children’s hospice.
A significant portion of residents in long-term care facilities benefiting from these concerts are living with Alzheimer’s disease, with rates ranging from 60% to 90% depending on the institution. True to its mission of accessibility, the OM ensures it reaches a variety of Montreal neighborhoods and CIUSSS areas, sharing the richness of symphonic music with everyone.
The OM and La SAMS extend heartfelt thanks to all those who donated to support this initiative, as well as to the Music Performance Trust Fund for its vital support. Special thanks go to the musicians, whose talent and generosity light up this cherished musical tradition every year.
