Dynamic, funny and endearing, Barbada is a drag performer who has been active in Quebec since 2005. In addition to her disco, pop and dance-infused performances, the drag queen—who doubles as a DJ—is an MC for events such as Cirque du Soleil shows, weddings and corporate functions. A masterful host, she tailors her approach to each occasion.
After several years of experience on stage, Barbada made a name for herself in the greater public by participating in various projects.
She has appeared several times on the TV program Bonsoir bonsoir! and co-hosts the podcast Big, Black and Beautiful.
With her sense of humour, candour and values, Barbada brings drag to the people.
In 2016, she appeared in the documentary series, Ils de jour, elles de nuit, on ICI ARTV. That year, she also launched her drag queen story hour, L’Heure du conte, where she visits children ages 3 to 8 to tell stories to encourage openness, acceptance and self-esteem.
In 2021, Barbada became one of the three mentors involved in Call Me Mother, a competition on OutTV where she acts as a coach for up-and-coming drag performers. She will continue as a host in the show’s second season.
In 2022, she became the first drag queen from Quebec to host a TV program for young people, Barbada, on ICI TOU.TV. The program features guest artists who visit her colourful world to help children discover local music.
