Julie Artacho

Actor, director, and writer Marcel Pomerlo has performed in 85 productions on stages across Montreal (TNM: Les Sorcières de Salem, L’Avare, Cyrano; TDP: Le Révizor, Le Cid, Dr Jekyll et Mr Hyde, 12 Hommes en colère; Rideau-Vert: Hamlet; Espace GO, PDA, NTE, Licorne…) as well as on tour across Canada and Europe, including performances at Théâtre de la Bastille in Paris and the I.C.A. in London.

He has created two solo pieces as writer-director: L’Inoublié (Éd. du Lilas) and Gaëtan (Dramaturges Éditeurs). As a director, he has worked on productions by Mouawad (Visage Retrouvé), Bergman (Sonate d’automne), Geneviève Robitaille (Désamours), Guy Richer (À la folie !), Catherine Dajczman (Passages), as well as works by Beckett, Genet, and over thirty literary performances. He was also an associate director at Opéra de Montréal for Verdi’s Il Trovatore.

As a co-founder of MOMENTUM, he has contributed to multiple original creations. As a collaborator with Pigeons International, he performed in seven dance-theater productions. Recently, he has appeared in Soifs Matériaux, La Foirée Montréalaise, Parfois, la nuit, je ris tout seul, Notre Bibliothèque, Chat en Poche, Piaf, Le Souffleur de verre, Babylone, Les Hivers de grâce, and La robe de ma mère.

He also collaborates with the FIL (Festival international de littérature), Maison de la Poésie, and the Festival de la Poésie de Montréal. On radio, he has worked with Radio-Canada, and on television, he has appeared in District-31, Fortier, Nouvelle Adresse, Toute la vérité, Nos étés, among others. In film, his credits include Chorus and Ruth by François Delisle, La Vie secrète des gens heureux by Stéphane Lapointe, Grande Ourse by Patrice Sauvé, and Manawan 1977 by Chloé Leriche.

Marcel Pomerlo has been nominated at the Gala des Masques for L’Inoublié (Best Actor, Best Text, Best Production) and as Best Actor by the Quebec Theater Critics Association. He recently completed his third play, Matthias Ostermann ou Le dernier petit bateau.
