Louise Pelletier
Renowned for her sensitivity and infectious enthusiasm, pianist Louise Pelletier enjoys a distinguished career as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach.
For more than twenty years, she has served as accompanist and vocal coach at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, and as a répétiteur for Opera McGill. She is the official pianist of the Canadian Music Competition and the Tremplin International and currently acts as Music Director of the Jeunesses Musicales Canada opera program.
Louise frequently collaborates with orchestras and conductors across Québec as répétiteur, pianist, and harpsichordist. She maintains a special artistic connection with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, a relationship that began at the Chœur de Laval and continued at the Orchestre Métropolitain, where she remained the choir’s accompanist through 2024.
At the Domaine Forget International Academy, she has coached singers and played for masterclasses led by José Van Dam, Sophie Koch, Jean-François Lapointe, and Ariane Girard. She has played an important role at the Institut canadien d’art vocal (ICAV) in Montréal, working alongside Joan Dornemann and other leading pedagogues from the Metropolitan Opera as both coach and accompanist. She also served as head of the scenes program at the Summer Opera Studio of the College–Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati.
Drawing on her experience, deep knowledge of the vocal repertoire, and a pedagogical approach that combines musical and personal development, she strives to understand each student’s individuality in order to highlight what makes them unique and help them reach their full artistic potential. Her students have gone on to perform in some of the world’s leading opera houses, including the Canadian Opera Company, the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, the Vienna Staatsoper and Volksoper, and La Scala in Milan.
Louise Pelletier holds a double bachelor’s degree in music education and performance, as well as a master’s degree in piano performance. She has pursued advanced studies in New York and taken part in numerous professional development programs across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
