Louis-Jean Cormier

Singer‑songwriter, album producer, arranger, guest musician, and radio and television host, Louis‑Jean Cormier has worn many hats over the years.

Yet he has never lost the sense of wonder that emerges whenever a melody begins to take shape.

After studying classical guitar during college, he co‑founded the band Karkwa with friends, a group that arrived like a breath of fresh air on the francophone rock scene, reshaping its landscape. Four studio albums, multiple Félix Awards, and a Polaris Music Prize later, Cormier embarked on a solo career.

Fortunately, audiences followed him along this new path. His first solo album, Le treizième étage (2012), earned the Félix Award for Rock Album of the Year, followed by Les grandes artères (2015). Both releases enjoyed significant success and opened doors not only to radio airplay, but also to television appearances.

The year 2020 marked the return of Louis‑Jean Cormier as a fully realized singer‑songwriter with the release of his third studio album, Quand la nuit tombe, a pop‑infused project shaped by new influences for the Côte‑Nord native.
Interrupted mid‑stride by the pandemic, Cormier used the pause to return to the studio, releasing Le ciel est au plancher in April 2021. This fourth album, inspired by the loss of his father, reflects a deeply personal chapter in his artistic journey.

In March 2021, Louis‑Jean Cormier also launched Le 360, a digital platform bringing together musical collaborations, conversations with inspiring figures, masterclasses, and more—an extension of his ongoing commitment to sharing, dialogue, and creative exploration.
