Amos Friesen

From a very young age, Amos Friesen developed a passion for music alongside his parents and five siblings in the Friesen Family Band.

Before he was even twelve, he was performing in concerts with the family band across Canada and had already recorded three albums. This early love for music deepened during his seven years of study at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University. During his studies, Amos participated in prestigious training programs, including Pacific Music in Japan, the National Arts Centre Orchestra mentorship program, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the McGill International String Quartet Academy, the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute, and many others. His particular interest in orchestral music led him to win the audition for associate principal cellist with the Orchestre Métropolitain in 2025, as well as to perform as a substitute cellist with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and the Orchestre classique de Montréal. As a cellist with the Osmium Quartet, Amos won the McGill Chamber Music Competition in 2025. Thanks to this success, the Osmium Quartet will give concerts in the Montreal area and will have the opportunity to undertake a residency in Austria.
