A Successful Holidays Tour!
For a third year, the Orchestre Métropolitain continued its commitment to the community and mental health by organizing the OM Musicians’ Holidays Tour. In 2023, the initiative reached new heights, reaching over 900 audience members during the 19 performances that took place in 14 healthcare facilities and community organizations.
Initially focused on seniors in CHSLDs, the Tour has broadened its audience to include a variety of institutions such as the Montreal Children’s Hospital, the children’s palliative care organization Le Phare, the organization Le Chaînon, and even the CHSLD Paul-Émile-Léger, which mainly welcomes young residents living with severe disabilities. A large proportion of our target audience is affected by Alzheimer’s disease, with percentages ranging from 60% to 90% depending on the facilities we visit. We would also like to emphasize our commitment to reaching out to various boroughs and CIUSSS in the metropolis, in keeping with OM’s mission to reach out to audiences throughout the city.
This tour was made possible by the participation of 11 musicians from the Orchestre Métropolitain, divided into three formations: two quartets and a trio. Their exceptional commitment made it possible to convey the magic of music during this festive season.
A huge thank you to La SAMS, to those donors who donated to our Holiday Fundraiser (the Guignolée) and to the Music Performance Trust Fund for their invaluable support in making this event possible.
