Her critically acclaimed discography with Chandos Records highlights her fearless artistry, combining technical brilliance and expressive depth with innovative programming. Resonance features a “riveting new account” (Gramophone Magazine) of Weinberg’s Trumpet Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra, while Casta Diva, recorded with the Britten Sinfonia under Rumon Gamba, reimagines Italian operatic arias through the voice of the trumpet.
In September 2025, she releases Fantasia, recorded with organist Richard Gowers, pairing Baroque works by Bach, Krebs, Pachelbel, and Martini with four newly commissioned works by leading British composers, underscoring her ongoing commitment to expanding the trumpet’s repertoire.
Highlights of the 2025/26 season include performances of Helen Grime’s Trumpet Concerto night‑sky‑blue with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Staatstheater Meiningen, as well as the Lithuanian premiere at the Gaida Festival with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. She makes her Korean debut with Haydn’s Trumpet Concerto alongside the Korean National Symphony Orchestra, and performs the concertos of Arutiunian and Hummel with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, Die Kammerphilharmonie Köln, and the Bodensee Philharmonie Konstanz.
In December 2025, she performs Robin Haigh’s Trumpet Concerto LUCK with the Ulster Orchestra, following the world premiere at the Aldeburgh Festival in June 2024 with the Britten Sinfonia under Jessica Cottis. In spring 2026, she joins pianist Federico Colli for a performance and recording of Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Trumpet with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Dima Slobodeniouk, for Chandos Records. Her debut concerto appearance at the Schleswig‑Holstein Music Festival concludes the season.
In chamber music, Matilda Lloyd makes her Japanese debut at Tokyo’s Musashino Civic Cultural Hall and appears at King’s Place London in a new collaboration with the Goldmund Quartet in February 2026. She continues her collaboration with The Gesualdo Six at Wigmore Hall and in France, following the release of their album Radiant Dawn on Hyperion Records in August 2025, described as “ingenious” and awarded a five‑star review by BBC Music Magazine.
As a 2024/25 ECHO Rising Star of the European Concert Halls Organisation, Matilda gave eighteen recitals on Europe’s most prestigious stages, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Wiener Musikverein, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, and the Philharmonie de Paris. Recent highlights include performances with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Lille, the Royal Northern Sinfonia, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, and the BBC Concert Orchestra. She regularly collaborates with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Martyn Brabbins, Delyana Lazarova, Jonathan Bloxham, Anja Bihlmaier, Anu Tali, Gabriel Venzago, and Lawrence Renes.
Deeply committed to music education, Matilda Lloyd was appointed Professor of Trumpet at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in September 2025. She frequently gives masterclasses at leading conservatoires and serves as Trumpet Studio Head of the OAcademy Artist Diploma in the United States. An ambassador for Brass for Africa, she also mentors young brass players in the UK with Future Talent.
A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, and the Royal Academy of Music, Matilda Lloyd continued her studies with Håkan Hardenberger at the Malmö Academy of Music. In 2014, she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year Brass Final, and made her BBC Proms solo debut two years later with Alpesh Chauhan and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. She has won numerous international prizes, including First Prize at the Éric Aubier International Trumpet Competition in Rouen in 2017.
