Recipient of nine FÉLIX awards, an OPUS prize, the LUMIÈRE prize from Artisti, a nomination for the Félix Arranger of the Year, and proud winner of a first prize at the Concours de musique du Canada at the age of 13, musician, composer, arranger, musical director, producer, and founder of Disques Juliette, Julie Lamontagne has had a remarkable career and extraordinary experience.
With a strong classical background, she decided at a young age to explore other musical styles, including jazz, which she refined in New York with Garry Dial and Fred Hersch. She has released four albums under her name, which reached the top of the iTunes sales charts and earned several awards.
Recognized for her numerous television collaborations (Grand Spectacle de la Fête Nationale in Montréal and Québec, Bonsoir Bonsoir, Belle & Bum, Ti-Mé Show, Cette année-là, 100 Génies, Les Temps Fous), she has also served as musical director and participated in many tours both locally and internationally, performing with renowned artists such as Isabelle Boulay, Bruno Pelletier, Johnny Hallyday, Henri Salvador, Eddy Mitchell, Adamo, Julien Clerc, Patrick Bruel, Emilie-Claire Barlow, Guy Nadon, Biréli Lagraine, Alain Caron, Harry Manx, Nicole Martin, Marie-Élaine Thibert, Natasha St-Pier, Térez Montcalm, and Nanette Workman.
In duo with her partner Tony Albino under the name Les Twenty-Nines, Julie focuses on composing, producing, and directing various album projects. They are also developing their label, Disques Juliette, which highlights female talent. Their long-awaited first collaborative album, BOOMBOX VOL.1, is now available, featuring various artists such as Rymz, Imposs, Léonie Gray, Koriass, Elliot Maginot, Ariane Moffat, Patsy Galant, and Barnev Valsaint.
Julie also co-hosts the podcast Femmes qui résonnent with Schelby Jean-Baptiste, which shines a light on inspiration in all its forms. Femmes qui résonnent offers an authentic perspective on the journey of women in today’s society.
