Meeting young people and showing them they have a place – their place – at the Orchestre Métropolitain is a priority. To accomplish this, we are constantly developing new initiatives and projects that speak to the specific realities of the young people concerned. We want to give each of them a unique opportunity to take part, create, perform, attend and simply be with us so they can enjoy the symphonic experience to the fullest.
With the support and exceptional cooperation of our musicians, we are able to offer unique projects to young people.
Young Music Lovers of the Future resonates to the memory of Francis Gutmann.
Through projects inspired by the Orchestre Métropolitain’s programing, the Orchestre’s Young Music Lovers of the Future program reaches a growing number of young people each season – nearly 11,000 in 2015-2016! These initiatives aim to make symphonic music more accessible to young people.
Created in 2008 with the desire to make a difference, Young Music Lovers of the Future is targeted at all school levels in the greater Montreal area. The program includes a variety of educational activities and projects geared to each occasion and updated each year. Presented by Hydro-Québec in collaboration with the RBC Foundation, the program’s various projects are a source of inspiration for coming generations.
The Orchestre Métropolitain is proud to count the Commission scolaire de Montréal (CSDM), Collège Regina Assumpta, the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy and the École de musique de Verdun/Villa Sainte-Marcelline among its partners. The agreements binding us to these important players in education enable us to join forces and develop musical projects that are as original as they are motivating for young people. May these collaborations live long and prosper!
