Kicking off the 4th annual 2022 OMNI competition

For young Canadian musicians ages 7 to 17. Registration deadline: March 21, 2022
The Orchestre Métropolitain (OM) is happy to announce that it is kicking off the 4th annual OMNI Competition! Starting today, young Canadian musicians ages 7 to 17 are invited to submit a video recording of a performance of their choice. Their incredible talent will be presented to the public during a webcast of the first step of the competition on April 22, 23 and 24. We will then select 30 finalists who will move on to the second step of the competition. If public health measures allow, this stage of the competition will take place in front of participants and judges at Montréal’s Bon Pasteur Historical Chapel and webcast on May 21 and 22, 2022.
The OMNI Competition offers young musicians the opportunity to excel and grow through a rewarding and pivotal challenge in their musical career. In the spirit of openness and sharing, this competition aims to support young musicians from the beginning of their career, regardless of their level.
The OMNI Competition promotes young talent and instrumental musicianship. Through this friendly and positive competition, participants can grow and flourish as musicians and find a sense of belonging—something that the OM’s musicians and conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin care strongly about. They will be invited to take part in various interactive activities with other participants and OM musicians ahead of the competition. This year’s event is in line with the OMNI Competition’s mission: to create a network of young musicians who share a passion for music and give up-and-coming performers the opportunity to work with Orchestre Métropolitain musicians.
